Hashtag Trivia
Black Cow, Black Cow, Jerry's the Only One Who Knows Steely Dan Now
It's Tuesday, July 14th, and that means it's time for another round of Hashtag Holiday Calendar and Pop Quiz, the morning show's favorite way to shake off the Tuesday scaries with weatherman Jerry Steffen.
Before the quiz even started, the crew ran through the day's lineup of odd but very real holidays. First up was National Grand Marnier Day, celebrating the French orange liqueur that dates back to the 1880s and shows up in cocktails like the Cadillac Margarita, as well as dishes like Crepe Suzette. Then things got a little chaotic with World Pandemonium Day, a holiday that basically encourages everyone to stop playing it safe and embrace a little chaos for the day. Rounding out the holiday roundup was National Cow Appreciation Day, which, according to tradition, calls for filling a martini glass with milk and toasting a cow. Naturally, that led to a trip down memory lane about growing up on a dairy farm and a beloved childhood cow.
Since cows were already on the brain, it turned out the word "cow" was the key theme running through today's two pop quiz questions. So, without further ado, test your own knowledge with the questions below, then watch the attached video to see how the morning crew did.
1) The jazz rock band Steely Dan was nominated for Album of the Year at the 1978 Grammys for a collection widely considered one of the best albums of all time, featuring tracks like "Deacon Blues," "Josie," "Peg," and "Black Cow." What's the name of this album?
A) Aja
B) Blue
C) Ram
2) The Cow Palace is an indoor arena and entertainment center that opened in 1941 and has hosted everything from conventions and trade shows to political rallies and concerts, including The Beatles back in 1964. Near what metropolitan California city would you find the Cow Palace?
A) Los Angeles
B) San Diego
C) San Francisco
Think you know your classic rock albums and your California landmarks better than Jerry? Watch the video above to see how the pop quiz played out, and don't forget to tune in tomorrow for another round of Hashtag Holiday Calendar and Pop Quiz.
