Commercial Building Fire Damages Candy Store in Coachella

A commercial building caught fire Sunday afternoon in Coachella, prompting a large response from firefighters.

The blaze broke out shortly after 1 p.m. at the El Tepeyac Candy Store on Grapefruit Boulevard.

According to CAL FIRE, crews arrived to find the building fully engulfed in flames. Additional fire engines were called in to assist with suppression efforts.

Firefighters brought the fire under control at approximately 2:10 p.m., about an hour after the first reports.

No injuries were reported. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
