Palm Springs Public Library Partners with Palm Springs Power to Offer Free Baseball Admission for Cardholders

PALM SPRINGS, California — Books and baseball are teaming up in the desert this week for an exciting community partnership designed to keep local kids reading all summer long. On Tuesday night, June 23, 2026, the Palm Springs Power will take the field at Palm Springs Stadium to face off against the Inland Valley Bucks—but the biggest highlight of the evening will happen right before the first official umpire call.

Stepping Up to the Plate for Literacy

Palm Springs Public Library Director Jeanie Kayes is stepping out of the stacks and onto the diamond to throw the game's ceremonial first pitch. The honorary toss celebrates a major collaborative initiative between the city's public library system and the collegiate summer baseball league to promote youth literacy across the Coachella Valley.

To turn up the heat on summer reading, the Palm Springs Power is offering an incredible perk for local residents:

  • The Deal: Anyone who presents a valid Palm Springs Public Library card at the stadium box office will receive free admission to the game.

  • The Timeline: This ticket promotion isn't just for Tuesday night; library cardholders can score free entry to all Power home games from now through July 17, 2026.

The 2026 Summer Reading Challenge

The ticket giveaway serves as a major incentive for families to participate in the library's 2026 Summer Reading Challenge. The annual program is currently open for sign-ups and aims to combat the traditional "summer slide" by keeping young minds engaged during the school break.

Program Highlights: Participants in this year's challenge are eligible for weekly book giveaways, reading-log raffles, and a variety of interactive educational programs. It all culminates next month with a grand-prize celebration honoring the valley's top young readers.

Local families can register for the reading challenge online or by visiting the youth services desk at the library. Tuesday's game kicks off at 7:00 p.m. at Palm Springs Stadium, located at 1901 East Baristo Road, with gates opening one hour prior to the first pitch.
