ABC Recovery Center Completes $27 Million Expansion in Indio
The ABC Recovery Center in Indio has completed a major $27 million state-funded campus expansion designed to enhance addiction treatment and recovery services for residents across the Coachella Valley.
The project adds 44,000 square feet of new space, including male and female dormitories, clinical offices and an indoor gym. Center leaders say the upgrades provide a more modern and supportive environment for patients seeking treatment.
"Our facilities are aging. We've been around since 1963," said ABC Recovery Center CEO. "We have a brand-new facility with a lot more privacy for the people that come and do services with us. They'll be afforded a much better environment to recover in."
The expansion includes seven newly upgraded buildings and addresses growing demand for services. According to the center, approximately 90 percent of its patients rely on Medi-Cal to access detoxification and treatment programs.
Staff members say one of the most rewarding aspects of their work is watching clients rebuild their lives and families through recovery.
To support ongoing improvements, the nonprofit has launched its "Building for Hope" fundraising campaign. The initiative allows community members to sponsor furniture and equipment or dedicate a dorm room or treatment bed in honor of themselves or a loved one.
The expansion also adds 120 treatment spaces and new wellness amenities, including a gym and basketball court.
Center leaders say the project is about more than increasing capacity. They hope the improvements will expand access to treatment and provide additional support for individuals working to overcome addiction and build healthier futures.
The ABC Recovery Center has served the region since 1963 and remains one of the Coachella Valley's leading providers of addiction recovery services.
