Know Before You Go: Miles Avenue Work Begins in La Quinta

Road crews are in La Quinta this week, and one project will keep drivers busy through the end of July. Here's what CV Sync Traffic Program Manager Kris Gunterson wants you to know before you hit the road.

La Quinta: Miles Avenue Pavement Project

Work is underway on Miles Avenue between Washington Street and Jefferson Street in La Quinta. Crews are currently handling curb and gutter upgrades on both sides of the road, which is the first step before paving begins. While the work is active, traffic is reduced to one lane in each direction.

Gunterson says this project runs through the end of July, so expect this stretch to stay busy for several weeks. If you can avoid the area, Fred Waring Drive or Highway 111 are your best alternate routes. If you do have to pass through, slow down and watch for heavy equipment.

Valley-Wide Reminder

School is out for the summer, and that means more kids on bikes and more foot traffic across the valley. Gunterson says drivers tend to pick up speed when school zones go quiet, but that's exactly when you need to stay alert. Keep your eyes up, slow down in neighborhoods, and put the phone down.
